Title
The Notion of Artistic Work
Abstract
Art education resides in the distinct traditions of art and of education and must be sensitive to emerging issues and practices in both fields. However, not all issues and practices of either field are of equal importance. Artists may debate or embrace certain sophisticated medial problems which are of no particular relevance to the art educator. Likewise, many issues, developments and practices of im~ortance to education in general also may hold little or no relevance to the art educator. Nonetheless, on occassion a compelling issue, with implications which transcend the discretion of both disciplines, emerges. Such an issue is that which surrounds the computer in the art classroom.
