The Halifax Conference occurred from October 5 to 6, 1970 where twenty-two artists discussed a variety of art topics in a private boardroom at NSCAD. The video features Carl Andre, Joseph Beuys, Ronald Bladen, Daniel Buren, John Chamberlain, Jan Dibbets, Al Held, Robert Irwin, Mario Merz, Robert Morris, Robert Murray, The N.E. Thing Company (Iain and Ingrid Baxter), Richard Serra, Richard Smith, Robert Smithson, Michael Snow, and Lawrence Weiner in discussion at the private meeting. Although the meeting took place in a private room, the proceedings were transmitted via a video monitoring system to the Anna Leonowens Gallery where people could watch the proceedings live. These videos were recorded off of the television transmitting the meeting.
